Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Liam Everts battles the steep climbs, hardened ruts and relentless heat of the British Grand Prix to secure fourth overall in MX2.
The iconic Foxhills circuit hosted the MXGP of Great Britain this weekend, returning to the FIM Motocross World Championship calendar for the first time since 2000. One of British motocross’ most historic and demanding venues, it provided a fitting stage for Liam Everts to fly the flag for Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing.
Foxhills first hosted a Grand Prix in June 1992 and remains famous for its huge hills, steep elevation changes and technical hardpack surface. The 1,793-metre circuit sits 183 metres above sea level, though those figures barely convey its scale. The gradients are far more intimidating in person than they appear on television.
After a spell of hot weather, the track was heavily watered throughout the weekend. By Sunday afternoon, the surface was baking beneath the sun, leaving hardened ruts and slick lines that punished even the smallest mistake. Fans packed the surrounding hillsides, creating a superb atmosphere.
Everts looked sharp from the outset, carrying strong pace and confidence on one of the calendar’s most daunting circuits.
In the opening moto, the young Belgian launched into second before Simon Längenfelder found a way past near the top of one of the climbs. Everts settled into third and held the position to the finish, securing 20 championship points.
Conditions were even tougher for the second moto. Everts started fourth and quickly closed on Sacha Coenen, with less than half a second between them by lap six. A front-end washout late on lap seven dropped him to fifth, but he regrouped, repassed Coenen and spent the closing laps chasing Camden McLellan for the final podium place.
He reduced the gap but ran out of laps, crossing the line fourth. His 3-4 results gave him fourth overall on 38 points, narrowly missing the podium on countback. It was another positive weekend, with Everts showing speed and composure while continuing to build momentum. He remains fifth in the MX2 World Championship, while Husqvarna holds third in the manufacturers’ standings with 477 points.
Meanwhile, Kay de Wolf continues to recover well and is making encouraging progress with his rehabilitation. The Dutchman is expected to return to the hot seat of his Husqvarna FC 450 very soon, giving Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing another welcome boost in MXGP.
With a first podium since Sardinia narrowly out of reach, Everts leaves Foxhills with plenty of positives. Attention now turns to the MXGP of the Czech Republic at Loket on 26 July.

#26 – Liam Everts: “It was a positive weekend overall. The speed was there from the beginning and I felt comfortable on what is one of the toughest tracks on the calendar. In the first race I managed things well for third, and in the second I was pushing hard before I made a small mistake that probably cost me a podium. That’s frustrating, but it’s part of racing. The important thing is that the pace is there and we’re moving in the right direction. A big thank you to the whole team because the bike was working really well all weekend. We’ll take the positives and look to fight for the podium again at Loket.”
