Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing leaves Teutschenthal with valuable championship gains as Kay de Wolf secures another MXGP top-five and Liam Everts battles through for crucial MX2 points.
Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing continued its run of championship form at round seven of the 2026 FIM Motocross World Championship, with Kay de Wolf and Liam Everts collecting valuable points through challenging conditions at the MXGP of Germany. On a demanding weekend at the historic Talkessel circuit in Teutschenthal, de Wolf secured fifth overall in MXGP while Everts battled through the field twice to finish eighth overall in MX2.
One of the championship’s most iconic venues, Teutschenthal once again delivered a true motocross spectacle. Thousands of passionate fans packed the natural amphitheatre after organisers confirmed the circuit would remain on the MXGP calendar for the next decade. Dry and sunny conditions on Saturday gave way to overnight rain and intermittent showers on Sunday, transforming the hard-pack circuit into a technical and unpredictable challenge.
Everts showed strong speed from the outset, claiming third in Saturday’s MX2 qualifying race to secure a strong gate pick for Sunday’s Grand Prix motos.
However, difficult starts made life tough for the Belgian when the points-paying races got underway. In race one, heavy mud roost left Everts unsighted on the opening turns, forcing him off line and dropping him well outside the top ten. Remaining calm and composed, he worked his way forward throughout the moto to secure seventh at the chequered flag.
Race two presented a similar challenge as rain returned shortly before the gate dropped. Starting outside the top ten once again, Everts steadily carved his way through the field as conditions deteriorated. A late pass in the closing stages secured another seventh-place finish, earning valuable championship points and allowing him to maintain fourth in the MX2 World Championship standings.
In MXGP, de Wolf continued to build momentum in his rookie premier-class campaign. After finishing seventh in Saturday’s qualifying race, the Dutchman produced a measured ride in race one. Starting ninth, he quickly moved into the top five and maintained a strong pace throughout the moto. Despite a small mistake in the closing stages costing him a shot at fourth, de Wolf secured another solid fifth-place finish.
The second moto followed a similar pattern. Running inside the top six from the opening laps, de Wolf spent much of the race locked in battle with Ruben Fernandez. Despite losing time during several attempts to make the pass, he remained composed and delivered another fifth-place finish to complete a consistent 5-5 scorecard.
Fifth overall on the day moves de Wolf up to sixth in the MXGP World Championship standings, marking another positive step forward in his first full season in the premier class.
With another valuable points haul secured and both riders maintaining strong championship positions, Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing now turns its attention to the deep sands of Kegums and next weekend’s MXGP of Latvia (6-7 June).
#74 – Kay de Wolf: “It was a tough weekend because the conditions changed so much from one day to the next, but overall I think we can be satisfied. We scored good points in both races and another top-five overall is solid. Of course, you always want a little bit more, but we kept moving forward and gained another position in the championship. The goal is to keep building and carry that momentum into Latvia.”
#26 – Liam Everts: “The speed was definitely better than the results show this weekend. Unfortunately, the starts put me on the back foot both times, so it was all about fighting through the field and limiting the damage. Conditions were tricky all day, but we kept scoring points and that’s important for the championship. We’ll take the positives and look ahead to Latvia.”
