Top Three Finish For Jed Beaton At Grand Prix Of Garda Trentino

Jed Beaton of Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing scored a top three finish during the final round of the MX2 world championship series at Arco di Trento in Italy. Beaton raced to second in the final heat, and actually came close to claiming victory in the race. He finished seventh in the first race after a mediocre start, which yielded him fourth overall. Thomas Kjer Olsen had a difficult outing, racing to 13th and sixth in the races respectively.

The track was modified somewhat for the third round of the Italian triple header. Some enthusiastic track watering led to some ruts forming. Beaton qualified third, and Olsen just behind in fourth spot.

Olsen had a setback in race one, crashing just off the start. He had to make his way forward from last, and managed to do so at a high tempo. He was perhaps a bit too enthusiastic, crashing once more and stalling his bike on another occasion, which kept him down to 13th spot. Beaton launched into 8th spot and immediately set about working his ways forward. Passing was difficult on the track, and it took him a while to move to seventh, which is as far as his up march went.

Beaton had a better start in the second race, quickly slotting into third. He kept the leading duo in sight, and when the second-placed rider crashed, he pounced, moving into second. He passed the line a mere 0.8 seconds behind the race winner. Olsen held seventh spot initially, moved into sixth, but dropped two spots again after a mistake. He recovered well to reclaim sixth spot.

Rasmus Jorgensen, teammanager, commented: “In the first race, Thomas crashed off the start and Jed did not get an ideal launch. The start is important here, because passing is difficult. Jed was very strong in the second race, and missed the victory by less than a second. Thomas could not really find his rhythm today and suffered from too many errors. We finished fourth and sixth in the world championship standings, which is a strong performance for our team. We would like to thank our partners, supporters and fans for all their invaluable support during the year. It was a strange year, but I am proud of what we have achieved.”
