Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing Team On the Podium At GP of Faenza

The Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing team booked its first GP podium spot of the season with Thomas Kjer Olsen at the seventh round of the MX2 world championships in Faenza. Olsen rode two strong races, and with fourth – and third in the heats respectively, his podium spot was secure. Jed Beaton also rode strongly, coming from last to 12th in the first race, and upsetting the apple cart by finishing second in the final heat.

Jed Beaton posted a blitzing qualifying time, securing fourth gate, wth teammate Thomas Kjer Olsen listed as 13th. Both riders felt ready for action, though, and confident as they rolled up to the start gate. The first race started with a setback for Jed, as he crashed in the normal cut and thrust of the first lap. He had to fight his way back from near last, and eventually finished 12th. Thomas had a decent start, and slotted into sixth spot. He held this position for long, but made a push during the last two laps, which gained him two more spots. With fourth place in the race, an overall podium beckoned.

Both riders started well in race two. Jed came out in the top five off the start, with Thomas a few spots behind. Both riders worked their way forward, landing in second – and third places as the race wound down. Jed finished second in the race, and Thomas third, which earned him a podium call-up. Thomas was third overall for the day, and Jed fifth. Jed is currently fourth in the world standings and Thomas is eighth. The series continues next Sunday at the same track.
